Family HIKE

Happy Memorial Day! We had a great weekend. I had to work Friday night so we stayed in town for the holiday. I got home Saturday morning to find the Gage in bed with Trevin, Cheyenne of coarse was sandwiched in between. Pretty cute!
Gage spent Saturday morning doing yard work and preping his Jeep for the summer. The top came off and it got a good cleaning. Trevin was by his side the entire time, which means I got some good sleep! Cheyenne woke me up around 10:30. I got up and turned on the computer to see what the weather was supposed to be like for the weekend, and just for the fun of it browsed through KSL's "free" section. To my surprise I found a piano! We spent the rest of the afternoon finding guys to help move it. So it's not in the best shape but hopefully we'll be able to fix it up without too much effort and $$. I'm excited about it, it's old and has a lot of character.
Sunday we went to church (Gage in his topless jeep got a little wet for his morning meeting.) That afternoon we went to visit the grave sites of Gage's grandpas. We came home and hung out for a while, then tried to put Trevin to bed. Trevin had plans of his own...

"This is way cooler than bed!" We ended up making cookie dough, Trevin loved the spoon.

Monday morning we got the kids up early and headed out for a Family hike. Gage and I attempted to hike Adam's canyon when I was 2 or 3 months pregnant with Trevin. I was exhausted after about 1/4th of the way in, so we turned around and came home. Ever since then I've been determined to make it to the top. So that's the hike we picked.
We borrowed a backpack for Gage to carry Trevin in and I carried Cheyenne in our little carrier. It took us a while but we made it! It was a lot of work to carry the two up but it was definitely worth it. We had so much fun, Trevin loved the river and waterfalls. Cheyenne slept through most of it. Here are a few pics from our little adventure...
Mom and Cheyenne on the way up.
One of the few time Cheyenne was actually awake. Dad and Trevin, letting Mom take a break. Trevin would bounce and say "ride"every time we stopped.
The rickety old bridge.
Our reward...the waterfall at the very top! YAHOO!

Gardening and growing

The weather is finally nice and you know what that means ... YARD WORK! Normally that wouldn't be an exciting thing, but when you haven't had a yard to work on for a few years it is. The grass we put in last year turned out great and now I even have flower beds! We live on a slope so we built them up a lot, which meant bringing in a bunch of dirt. Trevin loved it 'cause he got to ride on the wheel barrow a lot. Next step was plants, which I knew very little about. Gage put me in charge of picking out what we plant. So after talking to almost every one, surfing the net, and going to the nursery a couple times. I finally made up my mind and hopefully we have bushes that will actually grow where we planted them. It looks so pretty, even if the bushes are just tiny still.

For mother's day I even got a tree that is now planted in the front yard. It has been warm enough that Cheyenne can lay on the porch, she loves being outside. Trevin has loved "playing in the dirt" with mom and dad, especially last night. Gage tilled our garden area and Trevin was more than happy to help plant the vegetables. (more like tromp around on the ones we just planted, but he was trying to help) So here is the proof... we started a garden.

In the back ground of the top garden picture you will see our neighbors have a cage for their chickens and rabbit! So with out a fence we did what we could to protect our garden and planted Jalapeno and Habenero peppers along the back. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...If it doesn't make, at least we tried. If it does make it, then I am gunna have some killer Salsa this year!

Cheyenne is now 2 months old and growing! Gage took her to her doctor's appointment yesterday. She weighed 12 lbs. 11 oz. and got a clean bill of health! She is such a good baby. She loves to smile and has Gage wrapped around her finger. I had to be the tough one a couple weeks ago and tell Gage she couldn't sleep in our bed any more. This week I stepped up again, she is now sleeping in her room with Trevin. She has even started sleeping all night! She is changing so fast and I'm lovin' every minute of it!

Cool Ride

Trav is getting his motorcycle license, so while he was out on his lunch break getting practice hours he stopped by our house to surprise Trevin. And what a surprise. I woke Trevin up from his nap and brought him outside. You would have thought it was Christmas. Trav let Trevin sit on it with him and rev the engine, which Trevin thought was the coolest thing ever. He also enjoyed watching Trav drive down the street. Thanks Trav!
What a couple of Studs!

Cheyenne's Blessing

Sunday we blessed Cheyenne and had a get together for lunch. It turned out great. I always love getting the whole family together. It just would have been nice if the weather had cooperated and we could have gone outside, rather than cramming everyone into our house. Thanks to everyone that provided food. It was delicious and a special thanks to Lindsay for letting us take over her birthday.
After Cheyenne was born my Mom offered her Wedding dress to use to make a Blessing dress. I was way excited and scared to death of cutting it apart. I don't sew that often and this project was quite intimidating. Unlike most things if I messed it up there was no way to go out and buy new material.
It turned out great. My mother-in-law put in the zipper and my Mom spent hours sewing the decorative flowers on. Cheyenne looked so cute...
